Technical and Professional Development
The Foundation and the National Institute for Technical and Professional Formation
(INFOTEP) have established a collaborative endeavor to help promote human,
technical and professional development for those interested in Las Terrenas and
nearby areas. INFOTEP provides the necessary training and technical support
where as FMG provides local coordination. More here in Spanish.
The collaboration also contemplates implementing a Training of Trainers event so
that qualified individuals from the community could become certified trainers of
INFOTEP and offer courses to local audiences in key areas.
Technical training is not limited to the collaboration with INFOTEP. Language
courses are very popular and volunteers have participated teaching English,
Spanish and French classes. In addition, some volunteers have taught sewing,
macrame, beading, candlemaking and even cooking. If funds and volunteers
become available additional courses will be offered.
The Foundation still hopes that adequate staffing, volunteers and funding will make
possible to move from pilot projects to a regular schedule of technical offerings in a
variety of areas.
